Two construction workers have been hospitalized after being trapped in a Trench in Houston. The incident occurred at the 1900 block of Montrose Boulevard near Bomar Street yesterday afternoon at about 3 p.m.

Firefighters were called to the scene for reports of people being trapped in a trench. The Houston Fire Department responded to the scene. According to Houston Fire Department chief Scott Graeter, when firefighters arrived, one of the workers was pulling himself out of the trench. The second worker was reported to have been trapped 15 feet deep inside the hole.

Firefighters worked for 40 minutes to retrieve the worker from the hole. He was finally rescued with a harness, and was covered in debris from the waist down. Both of the construction workers were transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. One of the workers had an injury to his leg, and both are in stable condition.
