A woman has died in a truck accident caused by a drunk truck driver. The accident occurred Monday morning on I-10 East near McCarty Road.

The incident occurred Monday morning, at about 11:35 a.m. The woman, driving a Chevy Tahoe, was attempting to change lanes to avoid a stopped van on the freeway when she struck a Kenworth semi truck in the process. A Peterbilt tractor-trailer then crashed into the Tahoe, killing the woman inside.

Police state that at the time of the truck accident, the truck driver behind the wheel of the Peterbilt semi-truck was drunk. Officials stated the driver, a 31-year-old man named Pablo Isai Frias, was unsteady and smelled like alcohol. They evaluated the driver and determined he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Frias has been charged with intoxication manslaughter, and the judge set a $100,000 bond.
