Two people have been killed by a wrong-way driver in a deadly collision on I-45 south near the White Oak exit. The accident occurred early Sunday morning. Officers state they received the call at about 12:30 a.m., and were at the scene of the collision for five hours.

The accident was caused by a wrong-way driver, heading north in the southbound lanes of I-45 near the White Oak exit. The wrong-way driver, a 26-year-old woman, was driving a black Dodge Charger when it struck a black Kia Rio and a grey Kia Soul.

There were two people inside the Kia Rio, a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman. The people were both fatally injured, and first responders pronounced them dead at the scene.

The wrong way driver was extricated from her vehicle by paramedics and transported to a nearby hospital. She was reported to have suffered minor injuries. The driver of the third vehicle, a male, also suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police state that the at-fault driver showed signs of impairment at the scene of the accident. She has since been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
