Two people have died after a drunk driver t-boned their vehicle on Veterans Memorial Drive in north Harris County.

The accident occurred late Saturday night, at around the 10030 block of Veterans Memorial Drive, near where it intersects Moorebrook Drive. Houston police received a call at around 10:50 p.m.

The crash occurred when a drunk driver in a black truck, going northbound on Veterans Memorial, sped through the intersection, t-boning a second truck that was turning into the intersection. The force of the impact pushed both trucks into a nearby ditch.

The driver, a 44-year-old man, was in critical condition following the impact and was transported to Ben Taub Hospital from the scene of the crash. Officers state he was showing signs of intoxication at the scene of the accident, and has since been charged with driving while intoxicated.

The t-boned truck contained a husband and wife–a 62-year-old male driver, and a 60-year-old female passenger. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead as well.
