An officer has been injured following a motorcycle crash on FM 521 in Fort Bend County. The accident occurred yesterday morning near FM 521 and McHard Road, at the intersection of Almeda Road and Shadow Creek Parkway.

Fort Bend police received a call at about 7:30 a.m. about a crash involving a motorcycle and a car nearby. The motorcyclist, a deputy, was responding to a nearby multi-vehicle crash that had shut down the southbound lanes of FM 521. As the deputy was heading to the scene, a woman in an SUV attempting to make a U-turn collided with his motorcycle.

The force of the impact threw the deputy into a nearby ditch. EMS responded to the scene and determined the officer’s injuries were not life-threatening, but transported him to a nearby hospital as a safety precaution. The driver of the vehicle suffered a broken arm as a result of the crash, and was also taken to the hospital.
