A mother and her two children were rescued by strangers after being hit by a suspected drunk driver. The accident occurred at about 10:40 p.m., along the Southwest Freeway near Gessner Road.

The at-fault driver was believed to be driving a Toyota pickup truck. Police state they believe the driver was intoxicated, and fleeing from a previous accident when the crash occurred. They state that the drunk driver ran a red light at the intersection and then hit a Chevy Tahoe with a mother and two children inside.

The force of the impact flipped the Chevy Tahoe, trapping the woman and her children inside. Nearby bystanders worked with police to help extricate the children from the vehicle. The mother was then rescued by Houston firefighters.

The mother, her children, and the at-fault driver were all transported to a nearby hospital. Police are still investigating the at-fault driver.
