A pedestrian was fatally injured on Thursday night while walking across the Eastex Freeway. Investigators believe he was struck by multiple vehicles, with three vehicles involved in the accident.

The accident occurred around 11:30 pm on Thursday night, near the 11800 block of US 59’s southbound main lanes, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, a man, was walking his bicycle east to west across the freeway when he was struck by the first vehicle while walking across the mainlanes. The second vehicle attempted to dodge the man, but hit his bicycle. Deputies state that he was then hit a second time by a work truck.

The southbound lanes of US 59 were shut down for several hours while the vehicles involved remained on the scene. The investigating officers reported that none of the drivers involved showed signs of intoxication.
