The east- and westbound lanes of State Highway 225 have reopened after a major accident involving an 18-wheeler and a hazmat vehicle. The accident occurred yesterday morning, just before 8 a.m., on State Highway 225 near Beltway 8.

It is still unclear as to what caused the accident, or if anyone was injured. The Texas Department of transportation reported that an 18-wheeler jackknifed over the median of State Highway 225 at Beltway 8 as a result of the accident with the hazmat vehicle.

In addition, the accident resulted in a major hazmat spill. Emergency crews worked to clean up the area and repair the concrete barrier at the scene of the accident. The roads were blocked off for several hours following the accident as crews worked to clear the scene. The Texas Department of Transportation reported the roadways were cleared at 12:25 p.m.
