A firefighter was seriously hurt in a head-on crash in Montgomery County this weekend. The accident occurred early Saturday morning, at about 5:30 a.m., in the southbound lanes of FM1485 at Lost Lake.

Montgomery County officials say the crash occurred when a GMC pickup truck driving northbound crossed the median and struck the firefighter’s Ford F150 head-on. The force of the impact caused the pickup truck to catch on fire.

Both the driver of the pickup and the firefighter were transported to a nearby hospital, where they are in serious but stable condition. Following the crash, FM 1485 was closed for about an hour and a half as officials worked to clear the scene.
