Two people have died and two others were seriously injured on Sunday morning in a crash near a fire station in Conroe, Texas. The accident occurred near Caney Creek Fire Station 86, on FM 1314 at about 8:30 a.m.

Area firefighters were first alerted to the accident after hearing an object strike their building, Station 86. They walked outside to find a Ford F-150 that had been totaled just outside the station.

Conroe officials say that the crash occurred when the driver of the F-150 crossed the median, striking a traffic signal pole near the fire station. The force of the impact ripped the vehicle in half and sent the driver’s side door flying, which is what struck the station.

The vehicle had four men inside it. Two of the men were ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was ejected from the truck, and taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck, seen walking around following the crash, was also transported to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition.

FM 1314 was closed for several hours following the crash. The Texas Department of Public Transportation is working to investigate the crash.
