Pedestrian Killed by Drunk Driver on Katy Freeway

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a drunk driver on the Katy Freeway. The accident occurred early yesterday morning, at about 12:35 a.m. at the 21800 block of the Katy Freeway, on the eastbound feeder road near Mason Road.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Department reported that at the time of the incident, the pedestrian was on the west embankment of Mason Creek Drive near the Katy Freeway when a drunk driver in a 2016 Ford Edge swerved off of the roadway and traveled over the pedestrian in the air before landing in the embankment.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, a 21-year-old woman, was LifeFlighted to a nearby hospital for her injuries. Police have charged her with intoxication manslaughter.
