A man has been fatally injured in an industrial accident while working at a construction site in Spring. The incident occurred Wednesday morning at about 10:15 a.m., at a warehouse construction site at I45 North and the Grand Parkway.

Investigators reported that at the time of the industrial accident, a grandfather and his grandson were working together at a Spring construction site as independent contractors for Groundhog Foundation Drilling, a sub of subcontractor DMAC Construction. They were contracted by Rosenberger Construction.

The grandfather was operating a hole-boring machine in order to dig a hole at the site. Officials believe that the man put a boring bit into the hole unaware that his grandson was inside it.

EMS reported to the scene, as well as Spring Fire’s Rescue team and firefighters from Spring and The Woodlands. The first responders worked to shore up the collapsed hole and recover the man’s body.
