An 18-wheeler overturned this morning on Highway 290 towards Jersey Village, near where the freeway intersects with Hollister Road.
The accident occurred early this morning at about 6:24 a.m., in the northbound lanes of the freeway. It is unclear what caused the 18-wheeler to overturn, though reporters speculate that the truck was cut off during traffic. Video footage from local news outlets show the 18-wheeler overturned onto the passenger side, blocking five outbound lanes on 290.
The driver of the 18-wheeler appeared to be uninjured, and was walking around at the scene of the crash and cooperating with city officials.
The road was backed up for close to three hours, with reports indicating that the backups went on for several miles. After emergency crews worked to upright the semi-truck for three hours, the semi-truck was finally set upright and the roadways were cleared.
